University of Mississippi, Guided Hike
A Strawberry Plains Audubon Center & UM Magnolia Grove Audubon Conservation Chapter Event
Wednesday, April 20th, 8:00-10:00 AM at Bailey’s Woods
Strawberry Plains Audubon Center and our UM Magnolia Grove Audubon Conservation Chapter (MGACC) are partnering to host a campus guided hike on the historical Bailey’s Woods Trail. On this 1-mile hike, Strawberry Plains’ Ecologist, Stephanie Green, and MGACC students will guide us through the natural and cultural history of Bailey’s Woods; identifying any seasonal birds or native species along the way! This Guided Hike will be held Wednesday, April 20th from 8:00-10:00 AM on the Bailey’s Woods Trail. Interested participants should meet at the UM Museum parking lot, at the Bailey’s Woods Trail entrance.
How To Participate
All campus and community members are welcome to participate! No registration is required, but you may email our Green Week Coordinator, Sarah Furgeson (smfergu1@go.olemiss.edu) if you have any questions or concerns.
Some supplies will be provided (i.e. binoculars). No supplies are necessary, but feel free to bring your own hiking gear if you would like. Be prepared to hike 1-mile; rain or shine. This event will only be canceled if there is lightning or other exceptionally extreme weather; you never know what kind of birds, plants, or insects come out in the rain!
The event will begin at the Bailey’s Woods entrance located in the back of the UM Museum parking lot. Visit the William Faulkner Rowan Oak’s Website for more information about Bailey’s Woods Trail and the location of the UM Museum trail entrance. Look out for more details closer to the event date!
