Green Week ’22 Event Schedule

Monday, April 18th
- Sustainability Fair: Union Plaza, 11:00-2:00 pm
- Green Week 2022 kick-off event. A fun, free tabling event that brings together campus and Oxford community organizations from every dimension of sustainability (social, economic, and environmental). Come learn about and get involved in issues of sustainability in the LOU community AND win prizes!
- Inclement weather location: Student Union Ballroom.
- Sustainability Fair: Union Plaza, 11:00-2:00 pm

Tuesday, April 19th
- Arbor Day: UM Law Building, 11:00-12:00 pm
- Partnering with UM Landscaping and the UM Green Fund, we will be planting 5 bald cypress tree seedlings in one of the stormwater detention basins on campus as a part of the UM Green Fund Bio-infiltration Project. Come to help plant trees and learn more about stormwater mitigation!
- Arbor Day: UM Law Building, 11:00-12:00 pm

Wednesday, April 20th
- Guided Hike: Bailey’s Woods, 8:00-10:00 am
- Partnering with Strawberry Plains and the UM Magnolia Grove Audubon Conservation Chapter, we will go on a guided hike through Bailey’s Woods where we will learn about seasonal birds and native species that can be found on the trail.
- This event will be held rain or shine. Come prepared for a short 1-mile hike and bring any desired tools. There will be a limited number of binoculars provided so please bring your own if available.
- Upcycle-palooza Event: Power House, 5:00-8:00 pm
- Partnering with the Yoknapatawpha Art Council, we will be putting on a community-wide upcycle event. Bring unwanted clothes, recycled paper or cardboard, home decor, or any (currently) unwanted items to be mended, remade, or donated! There will be crafting, advising, and yummy refreshments.
- Guided Hike: Bailey’s Woods, 8:00-10:00 am

Thursday, April 21st
- Oxford Community Market Goes to College: Union Plaza, 11:00-2:00 pm
- Oxford Community Market will be holding a campus Farmers’ Market full of homemade goods, seasonal produce, and so much more. Come learn about local foodways and celebrate local farmers!
- Keynote Speaker, Dr. Laura Ogdon: Bondurant Auditorium, 7:00-8:00 pm
- Dr. Laura Ogdon will be coming to campus from Dartmouth University to share her lecture titled, “The Silence and Sound of Bird Song: Remembering Rachel Carson on Earth Day.” Come learn about Dr. Laura Ogdon’s research, the life of Rachel Carson, and the history of Earth Day.
