2021 Green Week Virtual Quest
During this year’s Green Week (April 19-24), students, faculty, staff and community members can complete the following challenges to be entered to win a variety of prizes from local and/or sustainable businesses. Instructions to participate in the Green Week Virtual Quest are included below:
Monday (4/19)
On Monday, the first day of the quest, the options for engagement are 1) email or city council member about reinstating curbside recycling in Oxford or 2) eat a meatless meal. If you decide to email a city council member you must screenshot your email address and send it to green@olemiss.edu. If you decide to eat a meatless meal you must take a picture of it and send it to green@olemiss.edu. For both of these emails the subject line must be “your name, virtual quest.”
Tuesday (4/20)
On Tuesday, the options to participate in the virtual quest are 1) Attend the William Magee Center for Wellness Education’s Plant Giveaway or 2) Visit the Oxford Community Market. The William Magee Plant Giveaway will be taking place on the UM Student Union Plaza from 1pm to 3pm. The Oxford Community Market takes place at the Old Armory Pavillion from 3-6:30 pm. Each of these items must be photographed and then sent to green@olemiss.edu with the subject line “your name, virtual quest.”
Wednesday (4/21)
On Wednesday, the options for engagement are 1) support a local business (any business!) or 2) Bike, walk, or use the outbus to get to campus or your place of work. Each of these tasks must be photographed and then sent to green@olemiss.edu with the subject line “your name, virtual quest.”
Thursday (4/22)
On Thursday (Earth Day!), the options to participate in the Virtual Quest are 1) trail clean-up with Ole Miss Campus Recreation or 2) attend Petra Kuppers’ Earth Day Keynote Speech. Trail clean-up will begin at the South Campus Rail Trail at 4pm, garbage bags and gloves will be provided. Petra Kuppers’ Earth Day Keynote will occur via zoom (register here) and will begin at 7 pm. In order to count your attendance, please photograph yourself and send it to green@olemiss.edu with the subject line “your name, virtual quest”
Friday (4/23)
On Friday, the options for engagement are 1) spend some time in a natural space or 2) visit your most convenient recycling center and recycle something. Each of these tasks must be photographed and then sent to green@olemiss.edu with the subject line “your name, virtual quest.”
